What is GlobalPitch?

GlobalPitch is leading the transformation of how candidates present themselves online to potential employers. With tens of millions of resumes flying around the internet chasing after job postings, it's a big challenge for a job applicant to stand out from the crowd. GlobalPitch puts you in the driver's seat and empowers you with the tools you need to differentiate yourself and let your potential shine through.

You'll find powerful features that will help you build your online career Profile. You can create a Video Resume or post a photo, or request former co-workers, managers or customers to post a recommondation on your Profile. Go ahead and show-off awards that you've received or certifications that you've attained. You can provide responses to commonly asked interview questions, or showcase work samples... the list goes on. GlobalPitch is filled with exciting features that will help you in your job search, but the most important element of GlobalPitch is that you are in control. You can create your Profile and come back to edit it, manage it and distribute it to potential employers.

How should I distribute my GlobalPitch Profile?

You are in control of your Profile. Here a few tips on how to get the most mileage out of your Profile:

1. Include your unique Profile URL on the top of your resume. We recommend a simple message like, "Please view my complete career portfolio at http://www.globalpitch.com/myname1234". If your goal is to separate yourself from all of the other applicants... this should do the trick.
2. Every time you send your resume by email to a potential employer or recruiter, encourage them in your email to view your online Profile. "In addition to reviewing my attached resume, please also check out my career portfolio at http://www.globalpitch.com/myname1234."
3. On the top of the Manage Your Profile page there is green E-mail My Profile button. Use this to invite potential employers to link directly to your GlobalPitch Profile.
4. If you're really on the hunt for a new gig, include a link to your unique Profile URL in your email signature.

What is the Recommendations feature?

One of the most powerful tools in the GlobalPitch feature set is the Recommendations feature. Few things will help you land a job more than someone else saying positive things about you. On your Manage Your Profile page you will see the Recommendations section. Enter the name and email address and create a short note to your Recommender. When you click on the preview button, you will see that we added a little text for you at the end of your message. This text will automatically generate the unique link that will allow your Recommender to view your message and respond. Once he or she writes something great about you and sends it back, you will receive an email alert that you have a "pending" Recommendation. Now you can review it and chose to publish it on your Profile.

The Recommendations feature serves another important purpose – by asking a former manager, co-worker or customer to endorse your work, you are spreading the word that you are actively looking. These contacts are a great source for uncovering or providing a connection that will lead to your next position.

Account Set Up

How do I create a GlobalPitch Account?

Before you can get to the good stuff and create your online career portfolio, you first need to create an account with GlobalPitch. It's quick and painless. Your username is your primary email address and you create your own password. We encourage you to complete all of the requested fields, but we indicated with a * the fields are that required. Your account is free to create, and free to manage and distribute. Click here to get started.

Important – after you create your account, we will immediately send you a confirmation email. If you don't see it in your inbox, check your SPAM or JUNK folder. If we ended up in there... add us to your Allowed Senders list. We may need to send you important messages related to your job search – and you won't want to miss those.

How much does it cost to use the GlobalPitch service?

It's a freebie. We will be rolling out premium services in the future that you can spend your money on... but the basic GlobalPitch service is free.

Do I need to supply all of my contact information?

No. But we encourage doing so. Once your Profile is set up, you will be able to control what parts of your contact info will be displayed on your Profile. In the Your Profile Settings section, you can easily elect whether or not to publish your mailing address, your phone number and/or your email address.

What do you mean by "Allow search engines to index my profile"?

This is an important one. You can elect to make your Profile "visible" to the search engine crawlers, or you can hide from them. All of the major reputable search engines look for a piece of code that tells them to crawl, or not to crawl. You tell us your preference during the account set up (the default is set to not crawl) and you can change your selection at any time.

Warning – Once the search engines crawl and index your Profile, it's a quite challenge to remove it. The passage of time is usually the only remedy. Even if you make your GlobalPitch Profile inactive or you delete your Profile, you might still show up in their "cache" search results.

Notice – Since we have really smart developers, we've figured out a way to tell the search engine crawlers to always ignore the people listed in your List of References section.

Creating and Managing My Profile

Do I need to post a Video Resume?

No. The Video Resume feature is just one element of the GlobalPitch platform (albeit a fairly powerful one). You should only post a Video Resume if you are confident that you have created a quality video, and that you are very comfortable with the concept of a Video Resume.

Can I post a video and a photo?

You have the ability to publish both a video and a photo to your Profile. The Video and Photo will show up in the same viewing frame, and the viewer can easily switch between the two.

You can upload multiple videos and photos, and change which images you are publishing to your Profile. You may also elect to not have a photo or a video displayed on your Profile. It's completely up to you.

How do I make my Profile active or inactive?

Since we know that you won't always be looking for a job, we give you the ability to easily change your account from active to inactive. On your main Profile creation and editing page (Manage Your Profile) you will see the green Access Control section. Just make your selection there.

How does the "Invite Only" feature work?

If you are concerned about restricting access to your Profile (perhaps you're currently employed and don't want to upset the boss) you can set your Profile Access Control to "Invite Only". This setting changes your unique URL from a friendly easy-to-find web address to a unique URL comprised of a long string of random characters. The Invite Only setting also tells search engines to not crawl your page.

How do I cancel my GlobalPitch account?

We sure would hate to see you leave. If you're interested in canceling because you've landed your dream job, we would encourage you to simply change your Access Control (found on the Manage Your Profile page) to Inactive. We'll keep your information handy for you in case you need it again in the future. However, if you really want out.... just send an email to cancel@globalpitch.com with "CANCEL ME" in the subject line. We'll take care of it within 48 hours.
