My Answers to Common Interview Questions

Tell me about yourself.
I am an artist, writer, lecturer and public speaker. I enjoy using the mediums of graphic design to explore and create in the electronic venues of print and web design.

What motivates you?
I have lived most of my life on the East Coast but I feel that I am supposed to be here in New Mexico. Since August – when we first moved here – things have been very challenging for us but I have not given up on the viewpoint that there are many greater opportunities to explore in New Mexico. Such opportunities include getting back on track with my life and working in an atmosphere that gives me a sense of accomplishment at what I love to do for a living. In the last month, I have felt somewhat derailed over the recent layoff at the Albuquerque Journal. But I did not let it ruin my focus to stay on course with my life and make it work here in Albuquerque.

Why are you looking for a job?
I was very happy with my former employer and looked forward to working with them for quite a while. The sudden layoffs that took place in January 2009 were a great disappointment for all of us as I was the first of many to be let go. My supervisors and co-workers were just as saddened as I was not the one they wanted to let go. We parted on excellent terms and I they helped me out with some great recommendations for job hunting.
